About Us
Our Story
Born and raised in a Yorkshire village just outside historic York, I’m deeply proud of my rural roots in God’s Own County. Growing up in a close-knit village community shaped who I am and inspired the luxury lambswool and cashmere scarves we source at The Yorkshire Scarf Company.
That old saying, "It takes a village to raise a child," rings true for me. The kindness and warmth I experienced as a child taught me the importance of nurturing, supporting, and giving back—values that are woven into our company’s ethos.
We’re dedicated to partnering with local Yorkshire woollen mills and craftspeople who share our values of quality, ethics, and sustainability. Each scarf in our collection is thoughtfully curated, chosen for its craftsmanship, multifunctionality, and lasting style—all in line with our slow fashion philosophy.
We aim to keep things local whenever possible: from our scarf collections and packaging to the services we use. This commitment not only boosts the Yorkshire small business community, but also helps us reduce our carbon footprint.
The Yorkshire Scarf Company began during a particularly harsh winter when I was trying to find scarves that matched the quality and warmth of locally woven British blankets. That search led to discovering a wealth of hidden gems crafted right here in Yorkshire—and inspired me to bring them together for others to enjoy.
Today, our small family-run business is truly a team effort, with my wife Lisa and the family lending their support, especially during our busiest times.
As we grow, we’re excited to expand our curated collections. If you have ideas or suggestions, we’d love to hear from you—just drop us a note on our contact page.
Thank you for supporting our Yorkshire family business. We hope our scarves bring you as much comfort and joy as we’ve had gathering them for you.
Warmest regards,
Richard & family
