About Us

Our Story

A proud Yorkshireman, I was raised in a village just outside the historic city of York. My deep rural roots in God’s Own County inspired our collection of high-quality, luxury lamb wool and cashmere scarves that people know and love.

"It takes a village to raise a child", and that is exactly what rural village living afforded me during my youth. Having positive role-models within my childhood shaped my life for the better and taught me the importance of nurturing, supporting and giving back to others. This is why I champion the Yorkshire business community through my work.

We aim to source everything directly in Yorkshire, from our collection of scarves to the services and packaging we use. This ethos not only creates a warming community spirit within the small business sector but also provides us with the opportunity to reduce our carbon footprint as everything we source to run the business is sourced locally, where possible.

The idea of starting The Yorkshire Scarf Company stemmed from a particular cold spell where I purchased some woollen British made blankets to keep myself and my family warm. The blankets were fantastic, however sourcing scarves of a similar quality to wear outdoors was tricky, and so The Yorkshire Scarf Company was born.

A small family-run business, my family, especially my wife Lisa, helps me in ensuring the success of the business especially during busy periods. It’s truly a family affair.

Our thoughtfully put together collection of scarves have been expertly crafted by our Yorkshire woollen mill partner to be multifunctional which aligns beautifully with our slow fashion ethos. Living by the slow fashion model ensures we take an ethical and sustainable approach to producing garments which minimises our impact on the environment.

As The Yorkshire Scarf Company continues to grow, we hope to launch further scarf and other woven fabric collections. If you have an idea for a collection, then do use the contact us page to share your suggestions with us.  We’d love to hear from you.

I hope you take as much comfort and joy from our scarves as my family and I had putting the collections together for you.

If you have any questions, then please feel free to reach out.

Warmest regards,

Richard & family.
